Bad 3000 hand run/Possible switch to Betfair

Just as expected, I hit a pretty annoying downswing. Annoying in a sense that I didn't play bad at all. Had top 2 pair busted by a set twice on the flop (I can sometimes get away from these which is a little disappointing), I've had KK v AA twice AIPF and full houses beaten by bigger fullhouses. Some sessions I am finishing up 2-3 buy ins on 75% of my tables and still only breaking even.

Anyway, with rakeback at 30% I'd be up 6 buy-ins right now overall and the more I think about it, the more I know I need to change sites to accomodate this.

Seeing as I'm signed up to most sites already, I have opened up a rakeback account with Betfair. I think before I play my next session I will transfer my bankroll from Full Tilt to Betfair. This will be annoying as my stats graph will now effectively be starting from scratch, but here is my latest (and quite possibly final) graph from playing at Full Tilt anyway:

Hands: 16,087
Bankroll: $265.86

10 buy ins up, $300 reached.

OK, ran quite well the last few thousand hands and am expecting a downswing at some point. Been making some good laydowns (well I think I have) which have helped along the way:

One thing that's annoying me a little is that with rakeback (say 30%) I'd have an extra 4 buyins ($40). When/If I reach $500, I might consider switching sites, but that's a long way off yet.
Bankroll: $307.56
Hands: 10,925

8000 hands in...

Right, here's my pokertracker graph after approx 8000 hands:

Nothing too special, started off on a heater, then had a big downswing which was a result of a crappy run of cards AND playing bad. The next downswing was just standard coolers, some of which are as follows:

Standard Coolers (my hand first):
AA v QQ - all in on a Q high flop
KK v AA - all in preflop
Hit runner runner flush with suited connectors, villain hit higher runner runner flush

Slightly more Tilt Inducing Coolers:
Q9 v K2 - 8 10 J flop, including flush draw and gut shot straight flush draw...he hits higher flush.
KK v AK v AJ - 3 way all in preflop, AK hits 4 card flush

These are just a couple off the top of my head that had me all in, I have dished out and recieved more. The 3 way all in was a bit of a killer.

Anyway, I'm happy overall, there are a few dodgy players at $0.05/$0.10 to say the least, it's hard to keep an ABC game sometimes at this level when your used to mixing it up a bit so going forward I'm hoping to just tighten up a bit.

Bankroll: $255.40 (bit different to pokertracker as some hands havn't been logged)
Hands: 8145

Brief Intro...

Hi everyone!

Thanks for visiting my page and welcome to my poker grind.

I will be playing on FullTilt, starting with a $200 bankroll, with a minimum of 20-buy ins for whatever level I’m playing at. To start, with my $200, I will be 8-tabling $0.05/0.10. I will move up to $0.10/$0.25 when I hit $500. I will not be receiving rakeback but I will be playing tournaments with any FTPs I gain to boost my roll. The bankroll management I am employing are exactly those used by Chris Ferguson in his $0 to $10,000 challenge. Google it if you are not sure what these rules are.

I’m writing this blog as a diary to track my own progress, but if anyone chooses to follow this then I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have. I will try to keep information brief, to the point, and to provide graphs and statistics as I go along.

I have built my bankroll a few times and eventually busted it playing drunk/tilted/above my limits, etc. This time I’m going to be as focused and determined as I’ve ever been.

Thanks!

(ps I wrote this opening quite a while ago. I’ve actually played about 8000 hands since starting, I will post graph ASAP!)
